A TALISMAN is an object that someone believes holds magical properties that brings good luck to the possessor, or that it protects the possessor from evil or from harm. According to the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a magical order that was active in the United Kingdom during the late 19th and early 20th century.'
ABOUT A TALISMAN – It is a magical figure or object charged with the force which it is intended to represent.” The Order also cautions that one must take great care in creating a talisman, making sure that the physical item’s symbolism closely represents the intended purpose of the talisman. The Order notes that the forces depicted by the item “should be in exact harmony with those you wish to attract, and the more exact the symbolism, , the easier it is to attract the said force.”
THE GOLDEN DAWN TAROT – Is an esoteric deck, based on the systems used by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Wang worked under the direction of Regardie, with card interpretations based on those developed by S. L. MacGregor. Mather’s. Stuart Kaplan notes that the Golden Dawn Society included as its members some of the best occultists and writers of its time. As part of their sacred oath, they were sworn to secrecy. Based upon the esoteric notebooks of some of these members, under the guidance of Dr. Regardie, Wang has faithfully produced, in authentic detail, each card in the Golden Dawn Tarot.
The Thoth Tarot Deck by Alister Crowley based on the Golden Dawn – The Thoth Tarot Deck by Allister Crowley. The Thoth deck is also based on the tarot teachings of the Golden Dawn, modified by Crowley’s own system of Thelma. The cards were painted by Lady Frieda Harris and they are gorgeous The Tarot is a collection of symbolic images it is vibrant and connects energies and entities.
This deck, along with the Rider Waite Tarot which I prefer actually is one of the most popular tarot decks of all time. If the Rider is Number One, the Thoth Tarot Deck is Number two.
The Book of Thoth, was Aleister Crowley’s Lifetime of occult study and practice. With artist Lady Frieda Harris, he condensed the core of his teaching – astrology, Kabbalah, magic, gematria and numerology, and alchemy into the 78 cards of the tarot. There are a few key differences in the numbering of the Major Arcana, and in the cards themselves.
The cards were painted by Lady Frieda Harris according to instructions from the occult scholar, Aleister Crowley. The magnificent art deco work contains kabbalistic and astrological attributions described in Aleister Crowley’s Book of Thoth. Thoth is rich in Egyptian symbolism. To each of the twenty-two Major Trumps of the tarot is assigned, by tradition, a Hebrew letter and a path on the Tree of Life, as well as an astrological sign, element, or planet. The deck also reflects Crowley’s interest in alchemy and magic. Crowley Thoth Tarot has attracted a worldwide following, both for its striking beauty and for its complex depiction of occult knowledge. Since its initial publication in 1969, the deck has never been out of print WOW Included with the deck is a booklet of instruction, which contains two essays by Lady Frieda Harris and a commentary by Stuart Kaplan.
The writings of Aleister Crowley are an acquired taste. The text is considered by some to be visionary – and most to be impenetrable.
Book of Thoth is a name given to many ancient Egyptian texts supposed to have been written by Thoth, the Egyptian god of writing and knowledge. They include many texts that were claimed to exist by ancient authors, and a magical book that appears in an Egyptian work of fiction.
They say Tarot Cards can be magically transformed into talismans and amulets.
The Golden Dawn uses powerful symbols and images. There are books that explore the nature of talismans and amulets. How magic works, the role of divine magic and magical ethics. By exploring specific energies and talismanic/amulic uses of each card they are described, along with there magical correspondences. Some books will explain the elemental and astrological and Kabbalistic qualities.
Evoking divine energies, including how to use Golden Dawn method known as telematic magic with Talismans. Using Tarot & evoking Angels with divine energies including using Ritual cards and how to lay a spread. There are lots of books that give step-by-step examples and they also demonstrate how to use magical talismans to get a promotion, gain psychic talent, promote healing, mend a broken friendship, enhance magic skills, and more.
THE MAGICIAN – Gods and angels are seen as the companions of the magician when working magical acts. The reason that the magician strives for spiritual growth an inner illumination is “so that his or her will is in a state of alignment with the higher will of the divine.” One of the thoughts presented here is that because of the vibratory difference between the physical plane that we humans live on and the astral plane that angels live on to work together humans need to bring their vibrations up, and angels need to bring their vibrations down, during the time that the two work together.
TALISMANS OR AMULETS FOR PROTECTION – They are worn or defined as objects that protect the person who carries them from harm.
Talisman’s work according to four “laws”, or theories:
1. The Law of Willpower
2. The Law of Astral Light
3. The Law of Correspondences
4. The Law of Imagination (or Visualization)
In short these 4 laws state that human willpower is a potent force that can cause real change in the physical world which is an invisible astral substance or energy or matrix that permeates everything in the cosmos. That certain objects and symbols or natural substances are connected with or correspond to different magical energies and the human imagination with its capacity for visualization is what focuses the human will, chooses the appropriate correspondence and manipulates the subtle astral blueprint behind the psychical world. Resulting in the act of magic.
The Magicians willpower is a crucial factor as every physical action has a magical action.
Every cause has and effect. Most people have heard of this saying.
Example Jupiter ritual to gain money but you don’t actively go out and seek work then the magic can not work you need action not inaction and willpower not laziness.
Remember what magic is sent out into the universe is exactly what you will get back. What you plant in the astral world may grow and blossom in the material world. What you sow is what you can reap that’s another saying most people have heard of.
Some people are natural at Magic some it takes lots of practice, if you are interested in Talismans and Magic and want to delve deeper a good book to read is TAROT TALISMANS author:”Sandra Tabatha Cicero” or you have the Israel Regardie who wrote The Tree of Life, a book many consider his magnum opus, in 1932. It has continued to sell for decades. And no wonder. Up until the time this book was published, very little information about true high magic was available to the public. This book contains some of the finest occult writing that has ever been produced. And with the new material by the Ciceros, it becomes a must-have for any magician!
I hope my blog has peaked your interest in Talismans, maybe it will cause you to read more about the subject or even learn more about the history of Tarot Cards.
